Rick Riordan

Today I have a question for everyone. After all that Rick Riordan has put us through, why is he still our favorite author?

I have yet to really understand that. After the Lost Hero (LH), Son of Neptune (SoN), and Mark of Athena (MoA), you would think that we would cringe at the mention of his name; yet, when we are asked who our favorite author is, most of us will say Rick Riordan.

Especially after Mark of Athena, I was thinking that he would lose A LOT of his fans, but I have been happily surprised.

Just a quick note on the ending of MoA, the real cliffhanger was the end of the second chapter. Well, I have a theory. I think that Rick Riordan only added the last chapter (where Nico says that Percy and Annabeth aren’t dead) just because he knew that if he didn’t do something like that, then we, the fans, would be an angry mob on his doorstep within the week that the book came out. When Nico said that Percy and Annabeth were still alive, I was able to take a small, very small, sigh of relief.

Again, if you have answers to my questions PLEASE comment and tell me. I just don’t understand why he is able to get way with torturing us, and he still is our favorite author. For some reason the ending of MoA made him my favorite author even more, but he has made me really mad at him at the same time… :P The whole fandom just seems to have a love hate relationship with Mr. Riordan.

Thank you for reading! If you have any request on subject topic then comment below.

  1. I don't know either. I guess because we want more. if he had less fans he might stop writing, so we keep liking him. That's just my guess.
