BoO Clue Reveals

   In case you haven't heard, Disney Hyperion has sent swag packages to nine different booktubers.  Inside these care packages, are clues as to what is going to happen in BoO.  If you want to see the clues, and the booktuber's theories, make sure you watch all the videos in the list below.

   I have yet to watch all of the videos, but I am going to marathon them and post my prediction on Sunday 9/28/14 or Monday 9/19/14.

P.S.  I can't believe we are only 10 days away from BoO!!!!!!!!   It is so bitter sweet.   I am SO excited for this book, but I don't want it to end.   It has been such a big part of my life for 5 years.  It's going to be hard to see it end. 

Percy Jackson's Greek Gods

    Please don't hate me for just now getting to this.  Anyway, as you know, Percy Jackson's Greek Gods came out August 19th.  

  The first thing I want to address is the artwork in the book.  I felt like the artwork was pretty good.  However, the PJO fandom is spoiled by having so many wonderful artists. I do not deny that John Rocco can draw, but he's not the best I have seen.  That being said, I am really pleased that they decided to change Percy for the cover. 

  Here I have added the two drawings so you can see the changes. 


  I think you would agree that the new Percy is better.  Not the best I have ever seen, but it is an improvement. 

   That's all I can really say about the art.  Good, not the best.  Here are some examples of the artwork. 




  Now to the book itself!  I LOVED it.  I laughed and laughed and laughed some more.  Rick Riordan had no problem jumping back into Percy's narrative. Uncle Rick told the myths in such a fun light-hearted way that you can't help but enjoy the stories. 

  I really like that Uncle Rick included the beginning of the world myth.  You don't hear about it too much and I was glad he made sure to include it.  Also, I enjoyed how modern he made everything.  Most of the conversations had modern touches.  The gods would have modern technology, or at least know about the technology.  Rick really made sure to make the myths relatable to the modern reader.  I know that that is his whole stick, but the gods have the demigods in the PJO series that are the connecting link to the modern world.  In Percy Jackson's Greek Gods, you don't have that link, so it creates a totally different feel from the normal series. I hope that made sense. 

  I was really glad that the funny chapter titles were back.   I wish we had them in HoO, but when push comes to shove, they aren't the most important thing to have in the new series.   In no particular order, here are some examples of the chapter titles in the Percy Jackson's Greek Gods Book:

1. Poseidon Gets Salty

2. Ares the Manly Man's Manly Man

3. Zeus Kills Everyone

4. Hades Does Home Employment

5. You Gotta Love Aphrodite

6. Athena Adopts a Handkerchief

7.  Hephaestus Makes Me a Golden Llama (Not Really, but He Totally Should)

 

    Obviously, some of the titles are better than others. Personally ,I like number seven the best; I feel like Percy's personality really shows through.   

 

    While reading this book,  I realized that I was slowing down and savoring every word because it finally set in that the PJO series was ending, that this was going to be the last time I got to read something from Percy's PoV.  I don't know how many of you have had that realization or if you would care enough about the series to care, but this series mean a lot to me, so it makes me sad that it is ending.

BoO Tickets!

BoO Book Tour!

I am at 'Little Shop of Stories' in Decatur GA getting my ticket for the tour!  Do you have your ticket yet?   Where are you going?  Who is going to the GA tour stop?  What are you most looking forward to?  What do you think will happen in BoO?  Who is going to die.   I have to go we just got in to get the ticket!  I am so excited for this, but am also so sad that the PJO series is going to be over.  I will have a post up hopefully later today!
